First group of the month.

From the lead rot pile:

02179 Knawl, Bakarathi
Dark Heaven Legends
Sculpted by Jim Johnson
Metal, 50x30mm base

This is a model I bought a couple of decades ago when it was newish. At last it is painted.
I put it on an oval base as I do not like to put smallish models on a very large round base just because it has its legs wide apart.

Nubble, the Sewer Golem (not a Daemon Prince of Nurgle at all, oh no.)
Archon Studio
HIPS plastic
50mm base

This model is from Archon Studio’s Dungeons and Lasers III kickstarter that recently delivered. They really have upped their game with their polystyrene plastic models. Great stuff, high quality.

44062 Carnivorous Pudding
Bones 4 Darkreach expansion
Sculpted by Julie Guthrie
Translucent smoke grey PVC
75mm base

I painted this with semi-gloss black, then primary coloured contrast paint to give a certain oily, coloured sheen.

Abyssal Dwarf Immortal (2011 version metal/plastic hybrid)

For the Abyssal Dwarf faction, Kings of War family of games.
Mantic games
HIPS plastic dwarf body, metal torso, arms and head
25mm base

This model is really a pretty crude sculpt, I mean, just look at the lack of symmetry in the eye holes and helmet in general. It is also a testament to how mediocre quality many of Mantic’s old metal castings were, with evidence of mould tears around the small horn-pieces on his shoulders and lots of horrible mould lines and flash.
This model was bought second hand several years ago as part of a unit of old hybrid Mantic Abyssal Dwarves. For some reason I never got around to paint them. This one had an interesting helmet, and I picked it to paint on a whim. I rebased it from the original square base to a 3Dprinted round. At some point I might even paint a few more of them. They are perfectly servicable and I do have a soft spot for chaos dwarves. It was a simple enough paint job.

RP11-426 Elemental of Fire
AD&D Monsters range, late 1990s
Metal
32mm base

The last of the old Ral Partha AD&D elementals I had in the lead rot salvage pile. Not my best paint job.

  1. I think you did a great job painting the Fire Elemental. Probably the best I’ve seen. Those blue eyes are pretty awesome. 👍
