I am taking a break from the bobbybox for a few weeks to recharge the enthusiasm (or sheer stubborness) needed to continue with those minis.
So getting back to Shadows of Brimstone, here is the last of the 30mm based minis I have from the wave 1.5 shipment. Only the XL Darkstone Hydra and the XXL Beli’al, Last of the Shadow Kings that remain unfinished for that game. Maybe I will actually manage to have them all done for the wave 2.0 shipment that should arrive sometime this year.
The Serpentmen of Jargono
are native to the Jargono Otherworld that comes in the Swamps of Death base game set, and come as a group of warriors and a shaman.
The shaman’s colour is inspired by a Black Swamp Snake (found in the swamps of south east USA), namely black with a bright red belly.
Your baker’s dozen green and yellow reptile colour scheme.
Red and pink, just for the hell of it.
Blue snakes. There are not enough blue critters in the world.
I could not be bothered to do patterns on the backs as I probably should have, nor have I researched real world swamp snakes in any great detail to find colours and patterns to use. They are fantasy, and I wanted them done. These PJs are simple but effective.
The Serpentmen of Jargono are made in HIPS plastic and as evidenced by the pics, quite nice quality of details etc. 30mm bases.
They come in the Serpentmen of Jargono Deluxe Enemy Pack for Shadows of Brimstone.
Moving on:
Conan the Board Game: Swamp Demon
I had some browns and greens left over on my pallette from working on the orclings (below), so I put the colours to use of this Swamp Demon from Conan the Board Game. Just globbed a few different shades on, drybrushed some others here and there, dotted in the eyes and teeth and hey presto.
The same goes for
Reaper Bones 3 77495: Saproling
I just used a bit other shades and some vallejo smokey ink for the dark stain.
And I glued some basing flock to it’s branches for the finishing touch.
These were both really quick and easy, which often is the case where the colours are similar all over.
Speaking of Bones:
Bones 3: Wereboar
A Wereboar in full charge mode. No wonder King Robert got the worst of his drunken encounter in the woods.
Another case of “I have some exess paint on my palette”, this time I had a mishap and squeezed out far to much skintone at one point. And as I can’t really get the paint back into the bottle, I needed to find a use for it. Hence this.
This wereboar is AFAIK as of yet unreleased for general sales by Reaper, so I do not have a SKU code for it. It came in a set with the werewolf I did not too long ago, and weregorilla(!).
I based it on a 45mm 3D printed base.
I hope it does not droop any more, but I fear it will as so much of the mini’s mass is to the front, with only the single back leg to support it. Time will tell.
Dungeon Saga: Orclings!
At last we come to the three bases of Orclings I had in the mountains of minis from the Dungeon Saga kickstarter. Since I have resolved to do the KS minis in parallell to the bobbybox minis, I needed to finish these since I did the bobbybox Orclings recently. So now the rest of the greenskins are ready to go.
So now I might just carry on with the bobbybox minis.
The Tally so far:
Finished from the Bobby Box: 54 / 126 (+5 / 12 casualties, small animals etc)
Just 72 left to do!
Finished from the stash: 18
Finished minis in total this year: 72 / 365 (target one for each day on average)
January: 59
February: 13
Oh wow, those Serpentmen are amazing! I love the bright colour scheme.
I agree (y)
