Servitor of the Outer Gods

Random mini time again!

This one was part of a second-hand purchase I made from the LAF forum ages ago, and has been standing around on my desk for some time just being a nuisance and getting in the way of my other projects, laying claim to one of my old glass paint pots that I use as holders for the miniatures while I paint them. Every so often I would put some paint on it, but for some reason it never was finished. Several different washes and drybrushings of more or less random colours have gone onto this.

So it was time to get it done. I used some fleshy tone I had on my pallette for the flute, and gloss black on all the lumps that might be eyes, pimples, pseudopods, warts, or eggsacks growing out of it. Finished off the base and done at last. Not my most inspired work, but perfectly servicable.

For the longest time I did not really know who made this mini. On account of the playing flute-like look to it I assumed it was a Servitor of the Outer Gods from the Cthulhy Mythos of HP Lovecraft. I turns out I was correct. This is “Servitor of the Outer Gods Rising” by EM4 miniatures. A single piece casting in metal, with integral base that fit quite well in the hollow of one of my 25mm 3D printed lipped rounds.

Once his groping hands encountered a pillar of stone with a vacant top, whilst later he found himself clutching the rungs of a ladder built into the wall, and fumbling his uncertain way upward toward some region of intenser stench where a hot, searing blast beat down against him. Before his eyes a kaleidoscopic range of phantasmal images played, all of them dissolving at intervals into the picture of a vast, unplumbed abyss of night wherein whirled suns and worlds of an even profounder blackness. He thought of the ancient legends of Ultimate Chaos, at whose centre sprawls the blind idiot god Azathoth, Lord of All Things, encircled by his flopping horde of mindless and amorphous dancers, and lulled by the thin monotonous piping of a daemoniac flute held in nameless paws.
