Lead Painters League second round

The second round is over, and here is my entry:

The Hog Wild Crew from the game Malifaux by Wyrd Games.  Warning: I don’t play Malifaux, but I do love these minis. Apologies in advance about any in-game mistakes I might make here.

These are the entire contents of the boxed set called “Hog Wild”. HIPS plastic miniatures, many pretty small parts and a bit fiddly, especially the bonus gremlin (to the left) that was included in the box. Even so, lovely minis with a great sense of both personality and movement.

Ulix is the Leprechaun-like beardo with the top hat, and as far as I can tell, the leader of the crew.

The Hog is called “Old Major” but I have done him up as the tyrant Napoleon from the Animal Farm animated film (1954)

“Old Major”, incidentially, is also the name of the old hog who starts off Animal Farm by holding an inspirational speech shortly before he dies, a speech that inspires the revolt on the farm and the rise to power of Napoleon. But I found this model to be much more Napoleonesque than the wise Old Major…as some animals are more equal than others.

Penelope the hound helps keep the rest in line. I did this one similar to a dog a friend of mine had many years ago.

The three little pigs huge boars. Excellent models with heaps of animation and personality!

Imagine one of these barreling out of the undergrowth, charging straight at your little, unprotected hunting party…

And the bonus bayou gremlin, and extra included in the box with a sticker on the outside.

All in all, this round also went well for me, certainly another pleasant surprise. I really did not expect that! I am just a sloppyfast tabletop painter in it for the experience and the fun of it. Entering such a league is a motivation for me to paint something different than usual, which I find oddly satisfying. I have finished four entries by now, none of which I probably would have chosen to paint entirely at random because reasons.

These minis were also painted in April, and so goes on Aprils tally:

The Tally so far:

Finished from the Bobby Box: 99  / 126   (+10 / 13 casualties, small animals etc)

Just 27 left to do! (plus some small bits like casualties and the half skeleton . I think I might have counted those wrong, as I seem to have 4 of those left, not three)

Finished from the stash: 80

Finished minis in total this year: 179 / 365 (target one for each day on average)

January: 59

February: 24

March: 62

April: 34
