The All Out War and Board to Death year-long events on the Minipainting discord have been, much like the Reaper Challenge League, very helpful to motivate me to getting some of my massive backlog of minis built and painted. It is “just” for fake internet points, but still works as a motivation since I have declared I am to paint this on a public forum.

Even though some months definitely have been more productive than others, I have managed to reach my goals for each month, and indeed, the full year.
This has resulted in two fully painted armies of more than 100 models each, and that I have painted all the expansions for the Star Saga board game, thereby completing all the models for the entire game system (with the exception of The Goliath model that was not part of the kickstarter and is no longer available). Also, a warband for Warhammer Underworlds, and the completion of two Otherworld expansions and three Enemy Packs for Shadows of Brimstone.
When I entered the events early this year; I added a large amount of models in a single go. This I think I will not be doing next year. Even though it resulted in my actually painting said models, it was a bit of a slog at times as my enthusiasm waned. Too much of the same kind of stuff, really. Also, this “blocked” in a way me from doing anything else than those specific models / expansions.
So: Just one small army and a couple of Board Game expansions for starters, and add to this as I go along.
Or not. I am rather flighty.
