October ends

The five on the right are for the october RCL. From left to right:

Another salvage-job from the lead rot pile.
Another Greater Lizardmen, from a 1997-8 twopack called “7008 Greater Lizardmen Warriors II”
This mini has a slotta-tab and not an integral base like most of the other Greater Lizardmen of the series. The entire line of Greater and Lesser Lizardmen was suddenly discontinued in favour of a Egyptian-themed series of lizardmen sculpted by Kev Adams released on the heels of GW relaunching their Warhammer lizardmen as prehispanic south american themed.

From the Reaper Bones 5 core set, the Clay Golem.

Although, we all know this is not a “Clay Golem”. This is another incarnation of Golgothan the Shit Demon from the movie Dogma (1999)!

The limited palette sometimes needs to get done pretty quick and therefore I tend to choose smaller minis. This month I had set my sights on the Fungal Queen, but the time I had to paint the weekend I was to do this became truncated so I had to downsize.
Hence the Pixie Familiar.

This is a Bones 1 mini. The first series that was plagued with soft rubbery plastic, soft rubbery details, and soft rubbery mould lines. Did I mention the Bones 1 minis are usually soft and rubbery?
The blinding whiteness of the original Bones material also does not really help. It is very difficult to see both the details and the mould lines. Sometimes is it actually only after I have gotten some colour on the model that I can see the details. This is such a model.

All the colours on this mini are mixed from the ones in the first picture.

Damras had spent most of his adult life trying to locate the perfect scroll. A score and more long years slaving away at the Inconcievable Institute, poring over the great library of the arts, absorbing all the world’s accumulated knowledge of the subject. He spent his years bending all his will and faculty towards this single goal. At last, having puzzled through all the clues and connected all the dots, he had uncovered where it was hidden.
He savoured the moment, holding the very scroll in his shaking hands. This, the finest piece ever, in all of creation, the very essence of the heavens captured on mundane canvas:
