Playing around with cheap craft paints and large brushes lets you do very large models in a jiffy. Such as these treemen.

The log-monster to the left is on a 60mm base…Mossbeard to the right needed a two part printed base, as my printer did not have a large enough print bed at the time I printed it. The base is 170x145mm.

Conan is the measure of a man, on a standard 30mm base.

I also used Mossbeard as a “May the 4th” Star Wars day piece for the Q2 seasonal challenge. This is an idea I have had for ages, just never getting around to painting the bits. The AT-ST is a micromachines toy, and yes, I have repainted it.

Painted entirely by drybrushing.
The craft paints I used for this did not show up very well over the black undercoat, so I had to build the colours up with several layers.
They took ages to dry properly, and gave a nice blending effect when I started a new colour.
The flock really wants to stick to the paint even when dry. I have spent some time trying to brush the errant flock away, but some of the bits persist.
If I could change one thing, I would have used a darker shade of green for the moss on the model itself. It is rather brighter than I would prefer. I may try to airbrush some green ink or contrast onto this to darken it. But for now, it is done. I will let it dry properly before doing any thing else.
Mossbeard
unknown SKU and sculptor, as it is not available in the Reaper store. It seems that the larger pieces they do in the kickstarter don’t get restocks. One can speculate as to the reason, I expect the retail sales do not support the cost of another print run as they need to order minimun numbers.
Reaper Bones 4 kickstarter
Bones Classic PVC (the white stuff: this kind of large model is where the white bendy PVC really shines.)

and the second wooden model of the day, painted at the same time with the same paints, just leaving out the red:

This was also painted by drybrushing. Well, apart from the eye.
At any rate, this is one of my favorite treeman sculpts of all time. Imagine that… thing… dragging itself towards you when you are out camping.
Fun fact: Those are not eggs it keeps in it’s rotten, hollow core…they are skulls.
Does this count as an undead treeman?
