Last of the Chibicans

The superdeformed chibis of the Bones 4 core set has been standing around my desk for a long time, only being nibbled at every so often. With one last push to get them over the top, the last pair has been done.

The mages:

#122 Lysette and #121 Galladon (so named as “Gandalf” already had been used)

Both the original minis these chibis are based upon were in the Bones 1 core set. I painted Lysette as a drow some time in the murky past for one of the Reaper forum beauty contests, where a specific mini is to be painted by all entrants. I have packed her away somewhere when I moved house and can’t seem to find her right now. There are lots of pics in that post in this blog if you can be bothered to do a search.

I have not gotten around to painting the original Galladon yet.

Here is the full Smallworld Heroes Chibi set:

I must admit that from all the Bones 4 core set minis, the Chibis were the ones voted “most likely to stay in their bags” when the KS shipment arrived, as superderformed/ chibi models like these are not really my cup of tea. They are way out of my comfort zone to paint, with all that skin, hair and large surfaces needing somewhat smooth transitions that I am not really any good at. But they have grown on me somewhat, especially since I decided to do them even more cartoony in style than I usually do. Themselves being very cartoony and all.

They do look much smoother IRL when not magnified as in the photos.
