October begins

All by Reaper. This should not come as much of a surprise. The first minis in a given month are all painted as entries into the Reaper Challenge League, especially since it also is a new quarter with three added popup challenges to boot.

You call that a knife? This is a knife.

77093 Drago Voss, Male Assassin
From the first Bones kickstarter
Sculpted by Bobby Jackson

Bones Classic PVC, the softish white stuff.
30mm base

aka The Knight of the Long Knives.
I wonder whether this mini might be inspired by some video game?

77364 Angel of Shadows
From the Bones 2 Expansion #2
Sculpted by Julie Guthrie
Bones Classic PVC, the softish white stuff.
32mm base

The Bones angels would probably never get painted without the RCL. Honestly, the same goes for many of the other minis I have done for the RCL. Much like:

Fighting this lion seems like a Herculean task!

The Nemean Lion
Bones 5 Greek Odyssey expansion
Bones Black PVC
51mm (!) base. I kept the original base, as it was round.

Another participant in the league put out a call for a duo with this mini, and I jumped at it. Mainly because it seemed rather simple to paint and that I knew I would not get around to painting it otherwise, seeing as it might be the single most boring mini in the Greek Odyssey expansion.
At any rate, this is the first of the minis from the Bones 5 shipment that recently arrived that I have painted.

It arrived pre-assembled, and the arm has a gap that I could not be bothered to fix. If I had assembled it myself, I probably would have trimmed the peg and use hot water to soften the parts to make the join be more flush, thus lessening the gap.

03043 Surkar, Orc Shaman
Reaper Dark Heaven Legends
Sculpted by Jason Wiebe
Metal
32mm base

I had this mini in metal from way back when. Coincidentially, it is a part of the Bones 5 core set made in Bones Black material. This is the metal version.

02680 Undead Troll

Reaper Dark Heaven Legends
Sculpted by Ben Siens
Metal
40mm base

This was a more recent purchase, to pad out an order to reach the free shipping limit. The model turned out to be much nicer IRL than on the picture in the Reaper store. They really have a lot of pictures of models (especially white bones models) that are not doing them any favors.

77296 Wererat Matriach
From the Bones 2 “Oh, Rats!” add-on
Sculpted by Jason Wiebe
Bones Classic PVC, the softish white stuff.
30mm base

This was a random pull. The old wererats are all quite softish in the detail. I am looking forward to painting the Bones 5 wererats to compare.
I was thinking of entering it for the October theme (“female”), but someone would probably have misconstrued it and taken offense, so I entered it as a monster instead.

77499 Gutrags, Stitch Golem
From the Bones 3 Stoneskull Expansion
Sculpted by Chris Lewis
Bones Classic, the better bones
40mm base

Gutrags here is painted for an RCL trio.

77704 Cave Troll
Bones 4 core set
Sculpted by Bobby Jackson
Bones classic, the better bones
40mm base

This is the second version of this model I have painted, this time as it is the “Quarterly Contest Model”. The first one was green.
It is a great model anyhow.
The question remains: Is it wrong to use Drow Nipple Pink on a Troll’s nipples?
